Starting point

Your needs determine the starting point.

Not every company needs a complete sustainability strategy right away. We start where the actual need lies – with a first customer request as much as with an established system.

Creating a first structure
—Understand and classify customer requirements—Prepare a first carbon footprint—Prepare for EcoVadis—Set up environmental management—Start reporting sensibly
Developing an existing system
—Improve Scope 3—Sharpen strategy and targets—Develop EcoVadis performance—Integrate ISO 14001 or EMAS—Connect reporting and management system
Topics

Four reasons companies come to us.

Each can be addressed individually. Where it makes sense, we connect the topics with one another.

Climate & Scope 3

Carbon footprint and climate targets

We prepare corporate carbon footprints according to the GHG Protocol and derive measures and target pathways from them.

CCF and PCF are different levels of analysis – company and product – but can be linked in terms of data and methodology.

What we take care of
—Corporate carbon footprint, Scope 1–3—Scope 3 data collection and data quality—Integration of supplier data—Measures and target pathways—Climate targets according to Science Based Targets (SBTi)—Measurement and reporting
EcoVadis & customer requirements

Ratings and customer requests

Many companies work on EcoVadis because customers demand it. We help to approach the assessment in a structured way and to meet recurring requirements efficiently.

We support preparation and improvement; the rating itself is awarded by EcoVadis.

What we take care of
—Analyse the existing assessment—Structure evidence and data—Identify improvement potential—Prioritise measures and clarify responsibilities—Support the implementation of improvement measures and develop the required policies and evidence.—Handle recurring customer requirements and codes of conduct
Environmental management

ISO 14001 and EMAS

We support the set-up and further development of environmental management systems – so that sustainability becomes anchored and manageable in operations.

Certification or validation is carried out by independent bodies; we prepare and support.

What we take care of
—Set-up and development according to ISO 14001 and EMAS—Environmental aspects and operational control—Management review and internal preparation—Preparation and support of audits—EMAS environmental statement, linked with GRI, DNK or ESRS
Reporting

Reports for regulation, customers and transparency

We develop reporting concepts and sustainability reports – for regulatory requirements, for customer requests and for voluntary transparency.

Whether and from when a reporting obligation applies depends on company size and the current legal situation.

What we take care of
—ESRS / CSRD: classification, materiality, data structure—DNK reporting and expert support—Reports according to GRI—VSME for companies not subject to reporting obligations—Reporting concept, indicators and data collection
Strategy

Strategy when orientation is needed.

Not every project needs a complete strategy. When fundamental orientation is required, we bring experience from more than 30 strategy and materiality processes.

Materiality assessmentConduct a materiality assessment and determine material topics.
StakeholdersStakeholder analysis and survey, e.g. according to AA1000SES.
Priorities and targetsDerive fields of action from the baseline assessment and develop measurable targets.
IndicatorsSelect suitable indicators and target systems.
RoadmapPlan and prioritise measures.
AnchoringDefine governance structures and responsibilities and create organisational anchoring.
Methods

What connects these topics

Methods we have applied and refined over many years in a wide range of projects.

Materiality assessmentBasis for strategy, reporting and priorities.
Stakeholder managementInvolve stakeholders systematically and take their expectations into account.
Indicators and target systemsMake progress measurable and reportable.
Workshops and capacity buildingBuild knowledge within your own team.
Selection of sustainability softwareVendor-independent, based on a catalogue of criteria.
Organisational anchoringConnect roles, processes and management systems.
Bridge to product level

When sustainability requirements become concrete at product level.

Corporate and product sustainability are different levels, but in practice they increasingly interlock. Customer requirements, climate data, environmental and recycling claims as well as product-related declarations need reliable data.

Recycling claims & EmpCoSubstantiate recycled content reliablyWe check whether existing recycling and recyclate claims are sufficiently substantiated and build reliable evidence based on material and product data – where required as a Recycled Content Declaration (RCD).An RCD can be a suitable, independently verified basis of evidence; it does not replace a legal assessment of the communication.
EPD, LCA & PCFEnvironmental performance of a productWhen requirements go deeper into the environmental impact of a product, we prepare EPDs, life cycle assessments and product carbon footprints. Many products or variants affected? Then take a look at product data & portfolios.
